DEVELOPMENT OF HIGH QUALITY AWARD WINNING NUCLEAR POWER PLANT PROCEDURES OF ALL TYPES
OVER 38 YEARS OF HIGH QUALITY AWARD WINNING DEVELOPMENT OF NUCLEAR POWER PLANT PROCEDURES OF ALL TYPES
NRC Recognition as the Best
Hope Creek, Public Service Electric and Gas Company
EOPs, AOPs, NOPs and Maintenance Procedures
NEC's first large scale project was the initial development and validation of operations, maintenance, chemistry and technical procedures at the Hope Creek Generating Station beginning in 1984. This included development of emergency, abnormal and normal operating procedures, as well as mechanical, I&C and electrical maintenance procedures. During the NRC operational readiness review at Hope Creek, the NRC inspector stated that the Tech Spec implementing surveillances were the best they had seen during their inspection of new construction nuclear plants being licensed by NRC.
INPO “Good Practice” Award
D.C. Cook Nuclear Power Plant
Abnormal Operating Procedures Upgrade Project
In 1993, the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) issued an INPO “Good Practice Award” which was achieved for NEC’s Abnormal Operating Procedures Upgrade Project completed with highly successful results for D.C. Cook, a Westinghouse four loop pressurized water reactor (PWR) plant.
INPO Number 1 Rating and ANS Award
Kewaunee Nuclear Power Station, Dominion
Procedures Excellent Project
From 2006 through 2009, NEC successfully performed and completed a large scale “Procedures Excellence Project” to upgrade procedures at Dominion’s Kewaunee Nuclear Power Station after Dominion acquired the plant in 2005. NEC completed this project on time and under budget. Kewaunee went on to win the American Nuclear Society (ANS) 2010 Utility Achievement Award for Outstanding Performance in Plant Operations. Kewaunee also obtained an INPO Number 1 Rating.
COMPUTER-BASED PROCEDURES (CBPs) for an ADVANCED PWRs
US-APWR, Mitsubishi Nuclear Energy Systems, Inc.
Computer Based Procedures Development
NEC supported development, engineering and licensing of the US-APWR from 2006 through 2014. NEC successfully developed the Writer’s Guide, templates and Computer Based Procedures (CBPs) for AOPs, NOPs and Administrative procedures. NEC completed this project on time and under budget.
CONTINUING OVER 35 YEARS OF INNOVATIVE PRODUCTS AND SERVICES
NEC's successful efforts at Hope Creek were continued in Writer’s Guides, Templates and Procedures development and upgrade projects at more than 30 nuclear power plants. In summary, NEC’s services for procedure development include the following nuclear power plants: Hope Creek, Browns Ferry, Rancho Seco, FitzPatrick, D.C. Cook, Arkansas Nuclear, Pilgrim, H. B. Robinson, Dresden, LaSalle, Zion, Vogtle, Oyster Creek, South Texas, Shoreham, Nine Mile Point, Millstone, Connecticut Yankee, Diablo Canyon, Susquehanna, Limerick, Peach Bottom, Surry, North Anna, Kewaunee, Point Beach, Summer, Comanche Peak, Prairie Island and Seabrook Nuclear Power Plants.
In addition to operating nuclear power plants, NEC’s services have expanded to advanced reactors including Mitsubishi’s US-APWR and Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) including B&W mPower and NuScale.
